As a medical student, I can get support when I need it. That isn’t the case for junior doctors struggling with mental health

I was four months into my clinical training as a medical student when I first encountered a suicide.

It wasn’t a patient.

The British Medical Association offers free, confidential support to doctors and medical students on 0330 123 1245. In the US, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-8255. In Australia, the crisis support service Lifeline is 13 11 14.
